Mixed Martial Arts

Shoot Jitsu Submission Grappling

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has become more popular in recent years thanks to UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships, the premier event for MMA fighters) but it is actually one of the oldest fighting arts known to man.

As the name suggests, MMA combines a range of stand-up and ground fighting techniques to create an elite combat sport. It is an incredibly exciting way of getting fit and conditioning the body to peak physical fitness.

Students initially learn ground techniques like locks and positional escapes. This is followed by boxing, kicks, throws and take-downs and finally controlled sparring, during which all the individual elements are is included.

Students are then encouraged to test themselves in inter-club competitions from which we can set their next set of training goals.

MMA is suitable for ages 12 and over.
